2.1 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROBLEM There has been numerous assumptions brought up on the effect of the commonly known illicit drugs and substances. For instance songs such as Strawberry Fields Forever and A Day In Life were written by the Beatles at the time that they were known to be using LSD and it is reflected on the song. Listening to the song will make the common listener illustrate and visualize a very mysterious and psychedelic setup and environment. Bands like Nirvana and specifically the lead singer Kurt Cobain had their career while abusing substances such as heroin and the ambiguous and calm and sudden strikes of aggressiveness and anger sound can be heard through songs like Lithium and Something In The Way. Music is a strong way of communication and it creates a very strong bond between the artist and the listener. A bond so significant that could easily make the listener influenced by the characteristics of the creator of the work. Be it mentally or physically, some of them can be exhausted and will fall into different psychological instabilities: a prime example would be Michael Jackson. After living his life on the peak of his career through the late 80s and 90s, he could not continue as successfully and his music career started to go stale; however, he still continued to maintain the same lifestyle and spend the same or more amounts of money, leading him to be bankrupt and in a lot of debt. The financial situation forced him to do extensive tours around the world and work hard on countless number of songs. Overworking and many negative side stories from the media and rumors made him fell into many mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety, that eventually led him to taking drugs to be able to handle the situation, which eventually caused his
