A person admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities is qualified as a hero by definition. A hero from the 20th century that fits the definition of a hero is Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson was a true hero who showed the world that anything is possible if you work hard enough for it. He faced many obstacles and challenges throughout his life, but he never lost his spirit and determination and kept fighting. Michael Jackson was a true inspiration for many people and left behind a legacy that will be passed down and remembered throughout the years to come. The tale of Michael Jackson is one of breaking these racial barriers in the music industry. He was discriminated against throughout his early life since he was born during a time when segregation was common in the United States. He never allowed this, nevertheless, to deter him from going after his dreams. He began his career with the Jackson 5, a group that broke down barriers and was among the first African-American groups to achieve international success. Michael continued to break through barriers as he pursued a solo career, and his music cut across ethnic and cultural divides. He was the first African-American musician whose music videos were to be seen on MTV, a network well known for broadcasting rock and pop music by white musicians. He put in a lot of effort and overcame many challenges to eventually become one of the greatest artists of all time. One of his albums called “Thriller” was able to improve traditional genres and create music that appealed to people of all races and backgrounds. It became the best-selling album of all time and was embraced by audiences around the world, regardless of race or ethnicity. With most of his songs, he would donate a large or small share of what he earned straight to charities. In the article MichaelJacksonLegacy.org, it states:
“February 28, 1986: After having had a heart transplant, 14-year-old Donna Ashlock from California got a call from Michael. He had heard that she was a big fan of his and told her that she had an invite to his home as soon as she was feeling better. The visit took place on March 8th. Donna stayed for dinner, chatted, and watched a movie with Michael”(Uk registered Charity).
Michael often participated in Make-A-Wish and helped kids all around the world that had major diseases and or major surgeries. He wanted to cheer his fans up before they went through a major experience in their life. As he helped Donna Ashlock by giving her a one-time experience that was the only thing that made her day and life. Michael helped out so many people that in 2004 he was awarded a humanitarian award by the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington D.C. Michael's acts will never be forgotten as he helped so many charities that made a big change
