The media and the public intentionally decided to ignore the truth because scandals are a much more profitable business than the actual facts. Before Michael Jackson’s death, various accusations were brought to his name by the media for their own personal gains. My objective is to explore one of the most infamous cases covered by the mainstream media and discover what they neglected to report. The largest misconception about Michael Jackson was that he was a child molester. During the 90s, Michael’s personal life had already become sort of a contributor to the media and not a day passed by without at least one story concerning him. In 1993, Evan Chandler accused Michael Jackson of molesting his 13-year-old son, Jordan Chandler when he stayed in Michael’s house. Immediately following the allegations, the media ran ramped on the situation and reported the incident as if Michael was already convicted. Those stories diminished Michael’s image both as an entertainer and a human being.
