Six-time NBA champion. 14-time NBA All-Star. Six-time Finals MVP. These are just some of the accomplishment that the great professional basketball player, Michael Jordan obtained. Stars such as Larry Bird and Magic Johnson said that “he was an incredible basketball player who redefined the game of basketball and what it meant to be a superstar.” Michael Jordan has revolutionized the game of basketball forever with his style, performance, and many accomplishments.
Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn New York. Soon after he was born, they moved the Wilmington, North Carolina. As Michael grew up, he was very competitive and absolutely hated to lose. When he was cut from the basketball team his freshman and sophomore year, he was very disappointed. In the offseason he worked hard and by the next season he was a starter. By his senior year he was a high school superstar with many colleges sending him offers. He accepted a full ride scholarship to the University of North Carolina.
Michael was an immediate star in North Carolina. He was known as “Superman” and “Last Shot” for his unique and unbelievable talent and style of play. He obtained the NBA rookie of the year award along with leading the USA Men’s Basketball Team to gold in 1984. Michael was getting more and more famous resulting in him with endorsements such as commercials and movies like Joe Pytka’s “Space Jam” in 1996. He even was offered his own clothing brand (Nike’s Jordan) in 1985. In 1993, Michael’s father was brutally murdered in North Carolina. This was a traumatic event for Michael which led him to retire early to join the Chicago White Sox. This did not last long as he signed with the Bulls once again in 1995.
