Since the creation of the masked monster/the monster that hides behind a mask was created, we have seen different caricatures take shape. Characters such as Pennywise or the popular Scream face. All of these are great examples of the creation of masked killers. I believe that Myers is the epitome of the invincibility of the masked killer when he appears on Halloween 1978.. Like many other masked killers, we see Myers survive almost unsurvivable circumstances. Michael Meyers represents the unknowability of the masked figure, a fear that becomes most apparent on Halloween. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain.American colonists are responsible for initially bringing Halloween to the United States.() During the holiday of Halloween we as a society are allowed to play with this idea of putting on a mask or persona. Halloween is a safer way for us as a society to play with darkness. Still, as we have started to see a rise in violence in America, it also leads to the possibility of the unknown on Halloween. During Halloween, people play with being monsters; however, Michael Meyers is truly a monster. The mask is a metaphor for cultural anxiety about not knowing who Michael Myers is.
