Part 1: Response to Learning Materials. Jazz in America: Concise History by Ken Burns has the first chapter discussing the very beginnings and the development of jazz in America, focusing mainly on jazz's African American-based ancestry. It surveys the intricate web of origins that entwined to materialize jazz, for instance African cadences, musical forms from Europe, and the blues. The film introduces such pioneers as Buddy Bolden, who is typically credited with being the first "King" of jazz, since his improvisational and soulful style gave a new twist to music on an individual level. The documentary displays New Orleans as the birthplace of jazz, where their mixed culture and different music genres could combine into new paths.
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet born March 6, 1475, he died February 18, 1564. He is most known for painting the ceiling in Sistine Chapel, and for the sculptures David, and Pieta. Michelangelo was considered to be the greatest artist of his time, and now he is depicted to be one of the greatest artist of all time. As a child Michelangelo was sent to Florence to study grammar, but Michelangelo disregarded school, he prefered to copy painting from churches, and to seek out the attention and companionship of fellow painters.
Michelangelo The Italian Renaissance created a culture change for Europe, and allowed artist with the ability to think freely and express themselves, and would assist in connecting the medieval age to the modern age. How magnificent would it be to travel across the world and see many great paintings, sculptures, and amazing architect perfected by artist from many different backgrounds and styles during the Italian Renaissance? Of all the beauty and wonders in the world the main thing on my bucket list is to visit the Vatican in Rome and see the absolutely marvelous Sistine Chapel painted by the great Michelangelo. Did you know that Michelangelo did not really even prefer to paint, even though he produced such great art work?
Michelangelo Buonarroti was born in Caprese, Tuscany on March 6, 1475. He was the second of five brothers. As his mother was greatly ill and frail, he was given to a wet nurse who lived in a family of stonecutters. Even though he was very young, he loved the idea of stonecutting, the craft of hammer and chisel. However, when he told his father of his wishes, his father was enraged as he thought that an artist’s life was one full of labor.
As stated in Michelangelo. Org's biography on him, “Michelangelo was without doubt one of the most inspirational and talented artists in modern history” (Michelangelo. Org).
They are a few reasons why I think Michelangelo is the most significant Renaissance artist. My first source is from my DBQ packet. On the paper it says he was the one of the only artist that could sculpt out of bronze. I think that is very important because none of the other artist could do that. A few pieces of art that Michelangelo provided us were the Last Judgement, David,
A Religious Transformation In this paper, I will be examining the evident shift away from Catholicism and towards Protestant ideas found within the poetry of Michelangelo Buonarroti. In Michelangelo’s early years, the developing artist associated himself with the Catholic household of the powerful Medici and was even forcibly employed by Pope Julius II to work on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Authoritative figures such as these served as early influences to Michelangelo’s spiritual life. As Michelangelo’s work grew in popularity, he continued to have close ties in the Catholic church, however, he met other religious scholars from outside of the rigid hierarchy.
Born during the Renaissance era or “Rebirth” as some may call it, Michelangelo usedthis critical change in time to his advantage. Michelangelo used his day to day life challengesand struggles to exemplify his masterpieces in sculpture and art. With his mother passing at ayoung age, his father working hard to provide for Michelangelo and his siblings, and theconstant relocation his family did, Michelangelo was had some obstacles to overcome at such ayoung age. I feel these and many other challenges he faced molded him into the artistic legendhe is to this present day. The man was so great he was also referred to as “The Divine One”.
One of the most well-known and popular artists during the Renaissance was Michelangelo Buonarroti. Some of his most famous pieces are the Sistine Chapel, which was his largest and most important work of his life . A generation later he painted the Last Judgment, and he also sculpted the Statue of David. Michelangelo had another side of him that a lot of people don’t think about when his name comes up, he was also a writer. He wrote hundreds of poems that had a lot of sentimental value and were very deep.
Michelangelo Michelangelo lived a very long and eventful life. He had a fairly rough childhood and a spent most of his life as a lonely artist. He was very difficult to get along with and had few friends. He once got into a fight with a disputing artist, and as a result, he suffered a broken nose (Krull 17). He did not have many personal friends.
Though as for him, Michelangelo Buonarroti for us is considered to be the excellent sculptor who showed the world his vocation since young. We cannot leave out the fact that we also think of him as the painter behind the Sistine Chapel decor or the architect that aided in finishing the projects for San Pietro. The height of his career as a painter is probably the Sistine Ceiling. Which is believed to be a compendium of all his previous plastic investigations, representing a new phase in the evolution of the themes of his younger years.
Throughout reading chapter 7, I found the story of Michelangelo most interesting. Looking at the picture I found it interesting how their body language told a story. In the paining God is on the right surrounded by many figures with his arm stretched towards Adam’s. Adam is laid back on a rock with his right arm resting on the rock with his left arm almost touching God’s.
Roger noted that, Michelangelo, together with Leonardo da Vinci, are the most-documented artist of the 16th century. Michelangelo created numerous breath-taking art works; however the Sistine Chapel in Rome art works in remains one of his most celebrated works. The work consisted of various paintings but the ‘Creation of Adam’ is particularly fascinating, it presented utterly realistic representation of human
Michelangelo was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculpture, architect, poet and engineer. The statue was carved from a single piece of Carrara marble.
Michelangelo had a gigantic influence on the renaissance. He was a master at both painting and sculpting, he also was an architect, engineer, and poet. During his day he was unbeatable in his painting and sculpting skills. He had many artist study under him and help him with painting the Sistine Chapel in Vatican, but none were on par with him.
