Throughout the entirety of our long line of presidents, there has not been a First Lady who could even compare to the awe-inspiring icon that is Michelle Obama. Not only is she a highly-regarded role model for women and children everywhere, but she utilizes her fame and power to create well-established initiatives that have affected the lives of many across the nation. This woman works intensively to accomplish what she believes is right and what she can do to help make the world a better place. Mrs. Obama has always supported her community in impactful ways even before she became a First Lady.
Her full name is Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama and she is the wife of the 44th president, Barack Obama and the mother of two daughters, Sasha and Malia. After graduating Harvard as well as becoming a lawyer, she had discovered that what she wanted to carry out in life was to assist people and make her community a better place. Such as, developing the University of Chicago’s first ever community service program, which led to an arise in volunteering, and countless more (The White House). In 2010, with the help of the Let’s Move campaign, there was a change in school lunches which called for healthier, less sodium and fat filled food. This led to the backlash from both parents and children. However, what these people do not understand is that Obama is not trying to satisfy everyone’s specific taste buds, she is trying to give the children healthy and nutritious meals that can improve school performance and their health (Bracken).
