When we think of leaders of America, whom do we think of? Someone who is honest, trustworthy, and loyal, right? We want someone who will have our country’s best interest at heart. As we listened to Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convection, we can trust Obama’s credibility because of her accomplishments while in the white house and by her actions that have proven her character. Obama is not only the first lady of the United States; she is an activist, service leader, and most importantly a mother. Through a majority of her speech, Obama primarily places an emphasis on the future of our children to grasp the attention of her audience. In Obama speech, she speaks highly about our future kids and the kind of role model they need to look up to. She begins to connect with her audience by telling a story of the first time she took the stage, eight years ago, explaining why her husband would be a great candidate to become president. “ Remember how I told you about his character and convictions, his decency and his grace, the traits that we’ve seen every day that he’s served our country in the white house? ” (Obama).
