Flint Michigan Water Crisis The water I am consuming has gone through its own special treatment to become safe for myself and others. Water goes through many different stages before it is being sent out into lakes and creeks. We must understand that water doesn’t only surround our continents but we are made up of it and we’d die without it.
There are many differences between saltwater and freshwater. Salt water has a more effective electricity flow due to the elements breaking down, which later becomes electrically charged ions. Fresh water also contains an electric flow, but it isn’t as forceful. Fresh water is for drinking, sanitation, transportation, ETC. without freshwater, human existence wouldn’t exist due to not being able to live without it. Therefore, since only 3% of our water is drinkable, it must be recycled. Americans use about 24 gallons of water each day by flushing their toilets. Recycling water is a good way to conserve our fresh water resources such as landscaping and industry. In a home, a family uses around 300 gallons of water per day indoors and out. With that being said, this is why many water companies raise water prices to ensure a safe supply and recycling process. In order to recycle the water, the water must travel by sewers which can result into contamination of the water. Contamination of drinking water comes from the raw sewage overflow, leaking sewage lines, and partially treated waste.
