As a child I became fascinated by the wonders of nature and liked to bother my family with questions they were unable to answer. As I grew up I was undecided for a long time as to what I should do with my life. Though I had an incline for science, it wasn’t until I was given the opportunity to do service learning hours in the microbiology preparatory lab of the Wolfson Campus in Miami Dade College that I found something to be truly passionate about. I only perform menial tasks at the beginning while shadowing the professors. In no time they noticed my interest and the lab manager decided to teach me different techniques. Though I had never taken a microbiology class and my knowledge was limited to what I had absorbed in general biology I started
