Microsoft is a huge company computer technology corporation. Thehistory of Microsoft began on April 4, 1975, when it was founded by BillGates and Paul Allen in Albuquerque. Its current best-selling products arethe Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Set of programs for office use of working well and getting a lot done software, Xbox, a line ofentertainment of games, music and video and Bing, a line of searchengines. In 1980, Microsoft formed a partnership with IBM that allowed them to bundle Microsoft's operating system with IBM computers, paying Microsofta royalty for every sale. International Business Machines (IBM) firstapproached Microsoft about its upcoming IBM Personal Computer (IBMPC) in July 1980. On August 12, 1981, after (back-and-forth conversations to agree on something) with Digital Research failed, IBM awarded a contractto Microsoft to provide a version of the CP/M operating system, which wasset to be used in the IBM PC. For this deal, Microsoft (bought something for money) a CP/M twin/duplicate called 86-DOS from Tim Paterson of SeattleComputer Products for less than US$100,000, which IBM renamed to IBMPC DOS. Microsoft did not have an operating system when they closed thedeal with IBM and IBM had not done their homework.
