People use the phrase “Middle Ages” to talk about Europe’s time between thefallofRome in 476 CE and the beginning of the renaissance in the 14th century. European artist and writers began to look back and celebrate the art and culture of Ancient Greece and Rome. At a point in time, after fall in Rome, people started to call this this “dark age”. This was because during this period no scientific accomplishments were made. Also, No great art work were produced, nor were any great leaders recognized at this time.
Between this time, there was a spread of a mysterious disease. It was known as “black death” It was called the bubonic plague. It is known as a terrible disease because it killed around 20 million people in Europe. That is at least 30

Ars Antiqua is also called Ars veterm, or Ars Vetus. It's a style that flourished in France and Burgundian low countries in the late middle ages. Travelers and troubadours were medieval poets - musicians. This music type was basically lyric poetry and music during the high middle ages. Lastly, guillaume de machaut/ Ars Nova is musical style that flourished in france during the medieval times. Two well known composers were Blondel de Nesle and Peter Abelard. Blondel Nestle was born in 1800 and he passed away 1200. He wrote trouveres. He flourished in northern france during the 12th century. Some music he composed was called “L'amours dont sui espris” and “Onques maiz nus home ne chanta”.
Peter Aberland was a philosopher, theologian, and preeminent logician along with being a musician. He was born in 1079 to 1142. A quote by him was “the key to wisdom is this - constant and frequent questioning we arrive at the truth.” Two pieces he composed were “O quanta qualia” and “Dolorum
