Pop! The sound of the gun at the 400 meter dash starting as Sam Schuette jumps into the lead. Middle school sports at Charleston Middle School has been very competitive, and very fun. This year I have completed my baseball season with a 14 win and 4 loss season. Right now I am in the middle of the basketball season, currently we hold a 16-0 record. I am also looking forward to the beginning of the track season. If you ever have the chance to play sports at C.M.S., I highly encourage you to go out for that sport.
I was highly encouraged to play baseball this year, it was a great decision to play. Usually baseball is one of my least favorite sports but, this year it was definitely one of my favorite sports. Coach Hanner was the baseball coach this year; he provided a very fun season while keeping it serious at the same time. As a team we held a 14-4 record and made it to the first round of state. We fell to Pleasant Plains 5-0 in state; this loss was very heartbreaking to many players. Some of the players on the black team you may know include Cory Spour, Peyton Daugherty, Austin Miller, and Ty Courtney. So far we have a win/loss record of 16-0 after recently beating Teutopolis and handing them their second loss of this season. Coach Bily has done an amazing job and hopes to finish the season undefeated. Coach Bily also does a great job of making things fun, while keeping the overall aspect serious, as Coach Hanner did. This season has included many yawns because of the many 6 a.m. practices. This season has also taught me many other traits such as responsibility, respect, and definitely how to hustle and work as hard as possible. Basketball is usually not one of my favorite sports, but this year it has gone up the charts. Hopefully, we keep battling for the perfect season and finish with a “0” in the loss
