Seventy percent of sixth graders get bullied because it is their first year of middle school. Most sixth-grade students are often bullied because of their age and grade. When you are in middle school, you get better privileges than in elementary school. You get better privileges because you are getting older and growing up. Most sixth graders are anxious about being in a new and bigger school. The typical life of a sixth-grade student isn’t always easy. You may worry a lot or stress about something going on. Walking around in a huge school, in a hallway packed with a ton of students can cause anxiety. Also, you may get anxious if behind in work, or miss any school work. In middle school, you may overthink too much about anything and get really anxious. However, some students are not anxious about anything and feel good about middle school. In middle school, you get a lot of new privileges. You get new privileges because you are getting older. For example, you may have phones at lunch. Except when you misbehave, you lose that privilege until you are able to prove you can handle it. School districts feel that students should be able to have better privileges in middle school than what privileges they had in elementary. For instance, you now have lockers instead of cubbies. Also, you are able to sit anywhere at lunch. However, if you misbehave, you will have an assigned seat. As your first year in middle school, you go through a roller coaster of emotions. Like bullying and anxiety, but on the bright side, you get new privileges. Bullying is a massive problem going into a new school because seventh, and eighth graders think you're weak.
