Shakespeare’s play reveals the events surrounding the love triangle between Lysander, Demetrious and Hermia. The play starts with Theseus, the Duke and Athens telling everyone about his upcoming wedding with Hippolyta. However a woman complains to Theseus about his daughter Hermia loving Lysander when she is meant to love Demetrious. Hermit’s only choice to to become a nun or die so she doesn’t marry Demetrious. So she runs away with Lysander to the forest to get married. However Helena, who is in love with Demetrious finds out about their plan and tells Demetrious so she can spend some time with him. Now all four characters are in the woods.
In the woods there are fairies. The king fairy, Oberon sees Demetrious telling Helena that he doesn't love her and to stop following him. So Oberon tells the Robin Goodfellow, a fellow fairy to get a pedal with magical properties, that when you squeeze its juice in someones eye they will fall in love with the first thing they see. However Robin puts the Juice in Lysander’s eyes and now he is in love with Helena. The King sees the mess and tells Robin to fix it up. But Robin puts Demetrious under the spell. Now Lysander and Demterious both love Helena and no one loves Hermia. In the end all things were resolved, Demetrious loves Helena and Hermia and Lysander love each other and Theseus approves of their love.

In the modern appropriation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer night’s dream, Demetrious is represented through the character Charlie. Charlie is still in love with his ex-girlfriend,
