Humans make many choices in life, but every single decision leads down to one end, even if they do not realize or do not expect how it will turn out. However, every person’s decision will fall into place and lead to their fate. In the story A Midnight Summer’s Dream, William Shakespeare shows the effect fate has on everyone’s life. Set in the Greek times, the main characters, Hermia, Lysander, Helena, Demetrius, Oberon, and Titania are all in a big love circle with fighting, and people loving different people. While going through this confusing time, they start to figure out what their fate in fact is, even if it is something they did not expect, and most come to understand that they cannot change it and that no one should mess with it. Oberon and Titania keep fighting and try to change their fate, although they consistently end up back together. After a lengthy fight with Titania, Oberon proclaims, “Come, my queen, take hands with me, and rock the ground whereon these sleepers be. Now thou and I are new in amity, and will tomorrow midnight solemnly”(Shakespeare 4.1.82-86). This statement explains how even though Oberon and Titania fought, they both became lovers again in the end, moreover, they can continue on with their lives by making others’ lives feel better too. Oberon had originally planned to reverse his and Titania’s fate by reason of trying to get and Indian boy and being they were always fighting. Oberon ends up having Puck also put flower juice in Titania’s eyes like he did to Demetrius, and she fell in love with a man with a donkey head. While Titania was under his spell, Oberon comes to realize that he loves her and is lonely without her. In the end they both get along with each other and are able to go to Theseus’ wedding and bless the other
