(Source A) 1.1 Joaquin Loera Guzman also known as “El Chapo” is a mexican drug lord. Once again one of the most wanted criminals in Mexico and the United States for his recent second escape earlier this year. He was born on December 25, 1954, 58 years old. His mother Maria Consuelo Loera Perez qouted, “Ever since he was little , he always had ambitions.” He began working with the once powerful Miguel Angel Felix-Gallardo and eventually reestablished himself as a top ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel and leader of the Mexican drug trade. He became Mexico's top drug kingpin in 2003 after the arrest of his rival Osiel Cárdenas leader of the Gulf Cartel. Alongside Guzman is ismael zambada garcia one of the three SInaloa Cartel. He was a mexican drug lord who had formed the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s and controlled the vast majority of all drug trade and distribution alongside the Mexican and United States Border. Due to Gallardos many connections with goverment officials in the DFS (Direccion Federal de Suguridad” and the CIA, Gallardo’s drug trafficking network was protected. Gallardo was considered an asset by the CIA. Gallardo's cartel was later found to be linked with the Columbian Cartel through the Honduran drug trafficker Juan Matta-Ballesteros also a CIA asset. The Cali Cartel together with Gallardo, Matta, and Santiago Ocampo, led the largest cocaine ring with a uncomparable size.
