Mike Dearing the Vice president of Sky AV and Pro Edge Technology. Mr. Dearing is responsible for a couple different things at both of his companies. The two of the most important include; motivating the staff, setting objectives, recognizing achievements and establishing incentives such as bonuses, and overseeing the job performance of department heads and upper management within the company. Mr. Dearing, with only a high school diploma as his educational background, was able to get a job in IT at UPS Freight and worked alongside Jared Roper, together they managed 263 locations and two call centers. They worked at UPS Freight until 2007, when they decided to start Pro Edge Technology, a telecommunications company. Evaluation pertains to more of the revenue side of the company. Performance standards can vary if not defined correctly. They are often stated in terms of profits, costs, installed products, lost products or even stolen products. Mr. Dearing went on to explain that being the Vice president you have an immense amount of responsibility when it comes to revenue. If you aren’t producing a profit, then why are you even in the business to begin with? He evaluates his companies by the profits, sales, and installation results. When broken down the profits are not just relatively identified, you have to calculate many things. This can include the cost of products, time spent installing the product, and wage of the employees. This is just a short list of what he goes through to find out what the final profit was, and if he did, in fact, make one.
