This quote attributed to long-time Alabama University Coach Bear Bryant who has the eighth-most career wins among all college football coaches, perfectly illustrates why the Chicago Bears were so dominant. That year, the Chicago bears towered above all other defenses by accumulating a league high 34 interceptions and forcing, once again, a league high 9 fumbles (NFL). The '85 Bears combined for a total of 65 sacks, the most by a super bowl winning team and in fact, had a total of 72 sacks in 1984, the most by any team in NFL history (NFL). As Bleacher Report writer Darrell Horwitz says, “Having had a chance to watch the 1985 Chicago Bears in all of their glory, I can unbiasedly say they are the greatest team in the history of the NFL. And there are plenty of others who agree. They didn't just beat you; they beat you up.” While the Steelers dominated the 70’s, the 49ers in the '80s, and the Cowboys in the '90s, no team ever did it like the ‘85 Bears.
