Either you love her music, and what she stands for, or you think she should put her tongue back in her mouth and dress with more coverage. The Adore You singer gained a lot of attention this past week, and it didn’t involve her swinging nude on a giant wrecking ball. On May 5, Cyrus went on Good Morning America and officially launched her new Happy Hippie Foundation. A non-profit organization devoted to help homeless LGBT youth. She left a final death note on her Tumblr page stating that her mother and father sent her into conversion therapy after finding out about her sexuality, and isolated her from any connections to the outside world. No social media, no friends. She named all the people who made her life unbearable, as well as the ones she truly cared about. After her death, her mother removed the letter from her page, and deleted the account together. “The only way I will rest in peace is if one day transgender people aren't treated the way I was,” Leelah wrote. “They're treated like humans, with valid feelings and human rights. Gender needs to be taught about in schools, the earlier the better. My death needs to mean something. My death needs to be counted in the number of transgender people who commit suicide this year. I want someone to look at that number and say 'that's f***ed up' and fix it. Fix society. Please.” The death of Leelah hit Cyrus hard. She’s a big inspiration for the Happy Hippie Foundation. Cyrus paid a tribute to Leelah Alcorn when she released a video for her Backyard Sessions for the song No Freedom with the caption “Listened to this song a lot in December when Leelah passed away...These lyrics relate so perfectly to Happy Hippie & our message to the world! FREEDOM & LOVE!" For her Backyard Sessions, Cyrus has also taken on songs such as Different, Peace Will Come, Look What They’ve Done To My Song
