Future of Military Technology A British officer says to Robert Surcouf, “You French fight for money, while us British fight for honor.” Robert states, “Sir, a man fights for what he lacks most.” The US Military was created June 14th 1775. Since then they have been fighting for freedom, their lives, and civilian lives. Technology levels raise so we can defeat our enemies quickly and effectively.
Since 1368, the military has changed incredibly. We have gone from swords of war to muskets ( Marshall ). From that moment on, the militaries all around the world have changed, and we shall all continue to change forever. People in this century have become very vie for new technology all around, in the military, vehicles, household tech and even refrigerator technology! Since just the 1950’s, our military has received new weapons, vehicles and bases, all of these upgrades are perfectly acceptable to protect the United States. In the past 40 years, we have gone from lower quality weapons, to high quality, and high functioning ones! In Vietnam, we fought with M16’s, M60 machine guns, and Browning pistols. In the 1990’s to the present day, we have semi-automatic, three round burst, and automatic rifles, ( which is not used often as ammunition tries to be used in moderate amounts, and they are too “messy” for close quarter combat. ) The military’s arsenal has since upgraded since the Gulf War, where M16’s were in use. Currently, the M4 carbine is in use, it is a three round burst, automatic, and semi-automatic fire system. It holds at largest, a 30 round magazine, or any other magazines smaller. The M4 shoots a 5.56 caliber bullet, which is faster than an AK-47, which shoots 7.62 caliber bullet, slower and draggier than the M4, and speed defeats armor. Also, M9 Beretta handguns are in use, as a sidearm during combat, as switching weapons is faster than reloading in a fire fight. One truly
