Mindfulness’s Effect on Exercise and Weight Loss

The following report discusses the topic of mindfulness, specifically how mindfulness can affect one’s exercise and weight loss. Anyone who wishes to see another positive about exercising and weight loss should read to find out the benefits that being mindful during exercise and weight loss can produce. The purpose of this report is to inform everyone, whether exercise junkies, beginners, or non-exercisers, about mindfulness effect on weight loss and exercising. What helps them be able to be successful? Individuals will join a group in order to obtain their goals. In a study done by Mantzios, Michail, and Kyriaki Giannou in 2014, they examine how mindfulness is effective between group and individual interventions. Within this study, the researchers find that mindfulness works within the group setting even though mindfulness is usually considered to be a self-help tool. Being in a group when working out or dieting allows for accountability to be conducted and helps each member within the group to feel important. Members do not let the others down by not achieving their personal goals because they know their fellow members are there to help and want them to succeed. Also, the group setting allows for an individual to be mindful of other member’s goals and help them obtain them through words of encouragement and reminding them to push their group members. Individuals tend to fail in achieving their goals because when not in a group, people tend to not be as responsible and let things slide easier. When a person who is trying to lose weight and progress in their workouts on a individual status, at times, will eat food they are not supposed to eat or skip a workout. By not being on a set schedule, the process fails and will regress instead of progress. Working out and losing weight with a group of people creates the opposite effect, which leads to progress. Mindfulness does work wonders within a group and with individuals if they are strict and firm in their routines. The previous two ideas have focused on a small portion of people.
