How do grit and growth mindsets work together to support success? Being a gritty can help a person with a growth mindset because by looking at a gritty person and see how dedicated and determined it motivates one with a growth mindset to continue being positive and start to use the power of effort to be like them not matter how many times a person failed. A growth mindset person has many advantages because they can see things positive and relate it to bad things and turn it around. A gritty person is a hard working person very dedicated and determined to get things done. That can have a positive effect on person to the point where it might motivate the person to be motivated like a gritty individual. “Many factors contribute to college success, including money, what colleges students go to, and what Duckworth calls social- psychological barriers.” being said being grit is personality trait that is needed throughout the years of college and most likely comes out during college. When I first got my job I was excited to actually have a job and to actually get paid for doing it I felt responsible. I work at Fine Fare and I’m a cashier there so to be able to be a cashier you have to be trained to work the machines and the codes. It looked a bit complicated when I first got a look at it, but as my co worker was showing me how it really looked it seemed a bit easy until it was my turn to take the register. It took me a while to do that. I was very focused and determined to learn everything and to not make mistakes and for doing that in the end I mastered everything. In the article “Mindset” by Carol Dweck she describes a growth mindset “failure can be a painful experience; but it doesn’t define you; It’s a problem to be faced, dealt with, and learned from.” A growth mindset according to Carol Dweck is something a person can overcome even though it was a bad situation the person thinks of the positive outcomes. A growth mindset is a person who may have failed at something but always turn it into a positive thing never put themselves down instead they encourage their self. In the article, an example of having a growth mindset is "if you make mistake, you got to make it right. I realized I had a choice. I could sit in my misery or I could do something about it pulling himself together for the second half, he played some of his best football ever and contributed to his team's victory." This is an example of having a growth mindset because even though he scored for the other team he didn't give up and for him not giving up he took his team to victory and that is what a growth mindset is
