Despite opposition to the movement, feminism battles constant stereotypes not only imposed upon women, but men as well. Simply, it’s a movement for human betterment, for human equality, and for human advancement. By ridding society of deeply ingrained, bigoted labels, feminism will succeed in the progression of more open-minded and accepting peoples. Purging gender expectations allows humans to avoid succumbing to discrimination driven by chauvinistic reasoning. A deep-seated superiority complex that those of the least oppressive gender/race maintain often blinds them of their own contribution to the struggle of equality for all.
A famous saying is “a closed mouth doesn’t get fed” that represents how if a person does not put words onto their thoughts then they will never be heard. Diane Ackerman writes, “ ...although it is possible to have a thought without words, it’s rarely possible to know what one thinks without bronzing it with words.” Ackerman’s claims are valid, words need to be used in order to hear a person’s thoughts. Feminism is a political and social movement that is geared towards creating equality between males and females in various aspects of life (e.g work, education etc). Feminists throughout the world have different views on what they consider feminist goals based on the societies and cultures they live in.
When people think of feminism they think of the twentieth century. Feminism began before then when Mary Wollstonecraft, John Stuart Mill and Marie-Olympes de Geouges wrote about it in the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Each had strong opinions about feminism and one even had her life taken for the cause. “Man, are you capable of being just? Feminism is a movement that has many different points of view. Some people oppose feminism because they believe that women shouldn't be equal to men. However, other people disagree and believe that feminism is a great movement fighting for equality with everyone. Feminism is a movement to fight for equality. Feminists fight for equal rights for everyone.
What is feminism and how can we educate others who don’t know what it is? Feminism is not anti-male so why do such a big majority of people believe it is? Finally, would more people be open to the ideas of feminism it conveyed one message instead of mixed/different ones? Response:

Being a feminist by any means is not an easy task. As the idea of feminism is rapidly developing across the globe, it refers to various questions, misconceptions, and sometimes extreme detestation directed towards the feminists. Society still doesn’t understand the essence of feminism, and the true meaning of it. Some believe that a feminist fight for women's equality, while others believe that women should be able to fulfill their highest potential.

The barrier between the two genders is not the fault or responsibility of just one gender. The definition of feminism is, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.” In the fight for gender equity, we should not put one gender above the other. I would like to believe that I could be a feminist, but people like me are what is holding back the movement. If more people stepped out of their assigned gender role and chose a different path, change can and will happen.
Feminism one of the most controversial topics that occur at least once in your average history class or in some cases English class. A topic that is received with sporadic emotions involving lots of qualifying and temperate jabs at some beliefs but still receive an overall laudatory reaction. High school students can be some of the most open minded individuals at times but unfortunately not everyone does, there are individuals that think misandry when feminism is mentioned. Feminism has been subject to vituperative remarks since it first arose but overcame and became one of the most influential movements on society. Current day feminism is accused of an ignominy towards the hatred of men (The Misandry Bubble).
More recently, feminism has sprouted into something many never thought it would be, causing many to think poorly about the fight for women’s rights. I understand why Feminism is often looked at negatively.
There are parts of this world where women are forced to marry their rapist as to not dishonor their families for not being virgins. There are parts of the world that kill their sister for getting raped, and little girls being sold for marriage to dirty old men. There are cultures that believe women should not enjoy the experience of sex so their clitoris is cut off. I understand the circumcision argument, but that is far less severe than what these girls go through. Yes there are things that suck for sure in the western world, but to say feminism is a cancer basically says you do not care about the innocent women that truly suffer adversity on this
Misinterpretation on feminism becomes an issue in America because the definition altered in various communities. In the essay, “Feminist Politics: Where We Stand”, the author Bell Hooks discusses the misconception of feminism in the United States. Bell Hooks states that the reason of the misconception of feminism occurs because of the patriarchy of America because mass media represents feminism as an anti-male group. However, feminism is the exact opposite of an anti male groups. Feminism defines itself for equality between men and women.
Feminism is defined as the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. Chosen as 2017’s “Word of the Year” by Merriam-Webster, feminism is a topic that has sparked many debates and discussions. Women, in particular, have been fighting for equality for centuries.
First, we should define feminism. Basically, feminism is a philosophy that advocates equal rights for women and men. The more feminists seek to overthrow any sign of male dominance in our society, to the point where they disapprove the biblical roles of husbands and wives, defending abortion, and so on. Modern feminism is a forged solution to the real issue of the inequality of women. Feminism assumes to itself the right to demand respect and equality in every aspect of life.
