I think that World War I is an example of what is seen over and over throughout history: miscommunication, misinterpretation, and malfunction of international relations. This war is often thought to have been fought over the death of one man; when in fact, this incident was essentially used as an excuse to instigate a war. A war that took the lives of millions of people (not just physically), did not really resolve anything, and did not make a difference for anyone's borders. Not much was accomplished during this war mainly because of inefficient military strategies. It was not because the weapons used during the Great War were unfit, they definitely were.
