The Differences in People People are so unique. They have different attitudes, likings, and ways of living. In the book, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, the characters are also very different. Out of the all the characters, the two that seem to differ the most is Miss Havisham and Joe. They have totally different ways of raising the young, general moods, and social skills. When people meet and get along, it is said that a little bit of their character will rub off on the other person. With this said, maybe the reason Joe and Miss Havisham are so different is because they have barely seen one another.

If just one person has a bad attitude, it can slowly start to bring the others down as well. With this said, mood is more important that someone may think. Another way that these two characters differ is in their general mood. Joe is a very giving, forgiving, and loving man. When word was out that Joe was marrying Biddy, and that it was Pips new plan to marry Biddy, Pip was so relieved that he didn't tell Joe about his plan in advance. The reason for this was, if Pip would have let Joe know in advance, Joe would have let Pip marry Biddy in a heart beat and take his place. Pip knew that Joe was such a giving man that he would do that, and he was thankful because know he knew that he would be happy. Joe's mood also shows that he is forgiving. When Pip realized that he had acted rudely to Joe, Biddy, and others as well, he went to seek for their forgiveness. However, Joe replied with, "Oh dear old Pip, old chap, God knows as I forgive you, if I have anythink to forgive!" (828) This just shows how forgiving and good hearted Joe truly is. Miss Havisham's mood totally contrasts this however. Her mood is mainly full of revenge and regret. When Miss Havisham's fiancé left her, she made it her goal to get revenge. She wanted to make sure that Estella broke as many hearts as she could, just like her fiancé broke hers. She referred to her heat as, "Broken!" (689) Miss Havisham is also very regretful.
