Miss Moore's The Lesson

The short story The Lesson, is clearly about Miss Moore taking her kids on a trip to an expensive toy store to show the kids that, there are more people in this world that lives wealthier lives than you. Miss Moore does this for her kids because she feels like, by showing them and taking them to new places she could help or take them down new paths of thinking during their lifetime to make them look at the world differently. The relationship between Miss Moore and her students is kinda the same for all of them except Sylvia, even though they all have grown up together and stayed together for a long time. Sylvia, as you can see in the story is the leader of the group of kids. She is the one who is mean with a very bad attitude and always picking on others by the way he or she looks or act. Economic value is what consumers would like to purchase, which relates back to the story because the kids had seen toys in the store that they wanted so bad but did not have the money for it. Miss Moore is really just trying to help the kids understand their value in life coming from a poor neighborhood and for them to actually see other things for themselves. Them being able to see actual prices of things they wish to have also should get to them to understand you would have to work for what you want, which also means they should find something to do and save money to be able to buy what they would like to buy as Miss Moore stated in the middle of the selection. Miss Moore is doing a great thing to me. I look at it as if she is helping African Americans educate themselves and also she is giving back to the community. I personally think if every community had a Miss Moore that liked to see African American kids succeed, that would really help a lot of families and kids in the long run with a major social
