Augustine told Miss Ophelia a story about a man named Scipio who was big and couldn’t be handed by anyone till he one day got shot and Augustine helped him and then gave him papers to be set free, but Scipio simply ripped the paper and served Augustine till he layed his life down to save Augustine. Legree, Mr Legree also buys a younge girl who got separated by her mother. Mr. Legree and his eight slaves together headed to the Red River, he made Tom change all his cloth and threw some of his possessions into the river. Mr. Legree talked to a stranger about not having mercy on his slaves, they then coasted off the Red River in there boat till they stopped at a town. They headed to a plantation, Sambo led the slaves to a barn where they would sleep on straw. Sambo began to threaten the women to be his and to cook for him, he gave the slaves little food with heavy labor, Tom saw a women from Kentucky, he read the bible to her, he then went off to sleep and he dreamed of Eva reading the bible to him. Tom was picking cotton he then put a pile of cotton on a women 's pile Sambo saw and kicked Tom, he then did it again, then a women put a pile on Toms and told him to not be helping the master saw the women and threatened her. As the slaves went to weigh the cotton, Legree and Sambo talked about Tom helping Lucy, Legree told Tom to flog Lucy, but Tom refused and got beat by Legree, Sambo, and Quimbo.
