Setting goals is easy, but my personality and character surface each time achieve my goals. Over the years, I have developed my mission statement based on my experiences and my culture. My goals include pursing a doctorate in Physical Therapy, succeeding as a student, and expanding my personal paradigm to better myself as a person. In high school, I was involved in extracurricular activities such as varsity soccer, cross country, and band. I was also part of organizations such as Safe School Ambassadors, Academic Achievers, Interact Club, and Robotics Club. I graduated in the top 5% of my high school class in 2014. I was accepted into the McLennan Community Honors College. When I received the news, my family and I were more than willing to accept the two year scholarship that paid for my tuition. …show more content…
In the Fall semester of 2014, we were assigned five books, each with different professors. Each book had a seminar that was three hours long, and our participation determined our grades. Since I am shy natured, I had to learn how to make my voice heard and stand up for my opinions. I would analyze and critique my comments and ideas in my head and I would try to talk myself into speaking up. However, stepping out of my comfort zone was a slow process. The first seminar I would speak once or twice and I would reward myself by saying “see that wasn’t so bad!” The next seminar I would try to speak three or four times. I proceeded using this method, but to make it harder on myself I decided that saying “yes, I agree” would not count as me speaking up. I hit a road block when someone contradicted my opinion and all eyes were on me waiting for my response. Participating in seminars took some work, but I used this method in my other classes. Now, I still take some time to think about what I will say in class, but I have the confidence and courage to say
