To go beyond the concept of eating to survive, and rather to embrace the idea of eating to thrive, for myself, for my family, and my community, I could start by eating healthier food. This goal of eating healthier is important because, I feel my health, and the health of people around me, would benefit from both the presence of healthier meal options, and the influence of someone already beginning to focus on their health through their diet. For example, one of my personal goals is to lose weight. I could start doing so by, replacing favorite snacks, such as chips and popcorn, with fruit. For another example, my sister succeeded in gaining a healthy amount of weight, and overcoming an eating disorder, by focusing solely on eating fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins, and by cutting out junk food.
