1. McNeal, Reggie. Missional Renaissance: Changing the Scorecard for the Church. A. The summary of the book McNeal demonstrates some important points in “Missional Renaissance”. His main focus is expanding our vision from local church to missional church. He says that “people are the church”, but not a place. “Wherever they are, the church is present”. His emphesis is “not doing a church, but being a church”, which makes a huge difference. To achieve this wonderful goal, he introduces three transitions that church leaders and members should take. Tom Rainer and Eric Geiger. Simple Church: Returning to God's Process for Making Disciples. A. Summary of the book This is a wonderful book which is more practical than theories. It is also a great combination of two resource persons, experienced pastors, and researchers who simply talking about “simple church”. It is not about another church model, but discipleship and simplicity. If I am asked about the book, I would say “it is very simple”. They also have a clear definition of simple church; “A simple church is a congregation designed around a straightforward and strategic process that moves people through the stages of spiritual growth”. They covered four important areas and steps regarding a simple church; clarity, movement, alignment, and focus. They visited and observed different churches, and interviewed some pastors and leaders. Then they compared all possible pros and cons that are very useful to any church. They explain four steps becoming “simple”; design a simple process, key programs, unite ministries around the process, and eliminate unnecessary things. B. Gospel is the foundation of the church. It is not just a simple thing, because it affects everything. This gospel also needs to be renewed according to culture, city, etc. and we should work for it. Then he discusses how to win the city. There are many issues and challenges in the city, and therefore, it needs redemption. Demonstrating how we can be effective in church planting for this particular city is the foremost intention of the author. Our vision must be a missional church, and then our church family will be a missional community. All together, we can build the Kingdom of God, and Keller explains the strategies to achieve the goal. However, the church should be the centre for all in the city, and of our task should be create a balanced and gospel-centered
