This college is located on a 150 acre campus and is over a hundred years old! The college was started and founded by the Presbyterian church in 1899. The entire student body is around 1,400 with over 30 different majors available. The college also offers a variety of extracurricular activities including sports teams,clubs, student government, and musical opportunities. In 1840, Archibald W. Missouri Valley College’s mascot is the Vikings and their colors are orange and purple. Mens sports teams include: baseball ,basketball, cross country ,football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, track and field, wrestling, volleyball and rodeo. Women 's sports include: basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball, wrestling, and rodeo. There are coed sports such as competitive cheer, competitive dance, and shotgun sports. Missouri Valley’s football team has a reputation of being one of the best among small colleges. Some examples of these clubs are: Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Art Club, Biology Club, Show Choir, Concert Band, and Jazz band. There is also a large amount of Fraternities and Sororities. Joining a fraternity or sorority can give you the leadership skills you need for your future. As a high school senior, you can also enroll in dual credit classes to receive college credit from Missouri Valley. Missouri Valley College is located in Marshall, Missouri. Marshall is a town with a population of 13, 000 people. Marshall is a great college town, because they have several good restaurants and a variety of activities. Marshall is a town with a rich history of Indian heritage. The local park is even named “Indian Foothills Park”. If you travel north of Marshall on Highway 41 approximately 12 miles, you can tour the Indian Heritage center at the Van Meter state park. The local airport has an exciting aviation museum. Marshall Missouri is also home to the “Jim the Wonder Dog” memorial park. Jim was owned by a Marshall man, whom claimed that Jim had extra sensory perception and could recognize colors and letters.
