Even through the book is about how bad the people were being treated I still think that kindness and generosity still exist during time of cruelty. I agree that the Holocaust was devastating but even though the Germans hated the victims they still made sure they had the necessities for life. They gave the prisoners a place to sleep and gave them food, keeping them alive. When Elie’s father was dying a officer told him, “I give you a sound piece of advice. Don’t give your ration to your old father. Instead you ought to be having his ration,” (Wiesel E., 1960, Night, pg 105).
