Thirteen Reasons Why tells a story about a girl who commits suicide by drinking some pills. Her death caused a shock to friends, family, and people she didn’t even associate with since she seemed like a happy content girl but it turns out she wasn’t. Her name was Hannah Baker. Before she died she made cassettes containing thirteen reasons why she killed herself. The novel begins as our narrator, Clay Jensen, receiving a package with no return address. It turns out that in the package there was seven cassettes. We soon learn that the package with the cassettes indicate that Clay is one of the reasons Hannah killed herself. She was someone special to Clay since he had a crush on her two weeks before she died. He ends up listening to all the tapes and founds out all the people that had to do with her death. Every story was different and it shows how much people’s actions can affect someone even if it seems like something so small. The stories heard on the cassettes may seem like stupid reasons for someone to end their life but it’s truly not stupid reasons. People should think before they do things. It not only about your feelings, but about the feelings of the other people. Hannah wasn’t happy even if on the outside she seemed so blissful with life like any other normal teenager. She was basically alone. When she viewed help she didn’t get any. Even Mr. Porter her guidance counselor didn’t pay any consideration to her when she told him that she was suicidal. He just let her walk out of his office without helping prevent her from doing what she did. Hannah was a victim. She was used and played with and taken advantage by the people that were supposedly her friends and peopled that cared about
