Thirteen Reasons Why is a book about a high schooler named Clay who received a mysterious package one day. He soon finds out that it contains tapes of Hannah Baker, a fellow student who is gone forever. The Puritans would loathe the book Thirteen Reasons Why due to the weak family values, law breaking characters, and the authority not being respected. The Puritans would ban the book Thirteen Reasons Why due to the weak family values. In the novel, Hannah Baker once lied to her mom by telling her she was fine when she wasn’t. In fact, she was incredibly suicidal. Clay was also a liar. He wanted to listen to the tapes in private. So, he told his mom that he was sleeping over at a friends, when, in reality, he was going to Rosie’s, an ice cream place in town. Another example of the weak family values in the book was Hannah sneaking out. One example of that is Jessica and Bryce. During the party, Jessica got a tiny bit drunk and her boyfriend Justin took her into a room to lie down. Later, Bryce came in after some time persuading Justin and he raped Jessica. Another example also involved Bryce and Hannah is also included. A few weeks later there was another party. In the after-party, which was Bryce and Jessica in his hot tub, he invited Hannah in. After a while, Jessica got out and, after she left, Bryce started molesting Hannah.
