Martin Luther King Jr. was born Michael King Jr. January 1, 1929 in his own home in Atlanta, Georgia. Mlk, was born and raised at 501 Auburn Avenue for the first 12 years of his life. Three years later he graduated high school at the age of 15. King had a model of courage when he was growing up, his father , King Sr. King Jr. believed he would make a change to the world and he did in many different ways. I chose Martin Luther King Jr. because he had a very clear vision ; he wanted to give everyone equal rights. He became a national leader that MADE a difference for negroes in the united states. I am very proud with my outcome project, it has much thought and hard work put into it. I wouldn’t change a thing about what King did for this nation. Inevitably he did accomplish what he set out, equality and desegregation, making him a great leader also an outstanding person. He once said “No one knows why they are alive until they know what they’d die for”. King carried out this quote with his own life, he died for what he believed in and because what he believed in. King was fatally shot on April 4th, 1968 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. During Kings 13 years of leadership, negroes achieved more genuine progress toward racial equality than the previous 350 years, making him one of the greatest nonviolent leaders in world history. Martin Luther King Jr. did many thing for not only the negroes, but this nation itself. Shortly after he delivered his “I have a Dream” speech, the Civil Right Act 1964 was passed. To prove he did nothing but good for this nation, the U.S claimed the 3rd monday of January in Kings honored as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He was honored in many ways and loved by many people.
