Three days after that incident, some people at night went to his uncle’s house and started searching for Emmit. Emmit was taken by the men and he did not return to the house. Emmit went missing for a few days until someone found his body in a river. People were not sure whether it was him, due to his face and body being disfigured. His face was beaten and shot in the head. His body was also beaten and his ankle was broken. Emmit’s mother was sure that the body was Emmit and decided to show the world what the people from Mississippi had done to her son. Tom Robinson is similar to Emmit because he was also accused of assaulting a white woman. In the book, Tom Robinson was accused of raping Mayella. She claimed that Tom went into her house and decided to rape her. Tom Robinson was later taken to court for the accusation. While he was asked questions, he tried to tell people what had happened that day at the Ewell’s house. Mrs. Robinson, Helen, is quite similar to the historical event at Little Rock High School.
