Momma’s Milk is Better for Baby
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to breastfeed their future newborn and to avoid feeding them formula.
Central Idea: Every mother will instinctively want the best for her child beginning with the first moments of life. Mother’s have the choice of breastfeeding their baby or feeding them formula. It is important, therefore, to understand the uncomparable benefits that breastfeeding and breast milk has compared to feeding with formula. From health benefits, stronger emotional bonding, and cost, it is clear that breastfeeding is the healthiest start for an infant.

First Main Point: Breast milk is natural and is a living substance made by each mother for her individual infant, a product that can't be duplicated by an artificial substance.

a. Sub-subpoint: The cells, hormones, and antibodies in breast milk help protect babies from illness. Exclusive breastfeeding reduces infant mortality due to illnesses such as diarrhea and pneumonia (World Health Organization [WHO], 2018). Therefore, this protection is unique and changes every day to meet the baby’s growing needs.
B. Subpoint: Breastfed infants have less difficulty with digestion than do formula-fed infants. Breast milk tends to be more easily digested so that breastfed babies have fewer bouts of diarrhea or constipation (WHO, 2018). Breast milk components includes lactose, protein such as whey and casein, and fat which are easily digested by a newborn (Ballard and Morrow, 2013).
