Why are butterflies and human life so alike in their life stages? One reason an insect can be compared to a human is because both life cycles’ start with birth and end with death. The common fear for a butterfly is death and most humans share the same feelings. Each one tries to embrace change and goes through a transformation period. The physical changes between the two consist of four stages. Most of these stages are experiencing events that can’t be avoided and must happen. For instance, the human child and Monarch butterfly are very similar in their growth. A monarch butterfly goes through several stages in their development, and is very similar to the growth of a child. The maturation for a butterfly starts off in an egg as a larva. The growth cycle is very identical to an infant’s life in the womb of its mother. First, there is an embryo that is made up of many cells that multiply rapidly. The inner layer of the cells is the embryo and the outer layer is the placenta. The infants are not considered a fetus at this point because it’s the size of a pencil head. The outer layers of cells are the organs that will begin to form when going through a development process. A Monarch butterfly grows in the egg for at least four days. When the butterfly hatches it is considered a caterpillar first. When starting off in the world a caterpillar learns its surroundings and then begins to crawl. A child goes through the same stages as she or he becomes comfortable with their environment. For instance, crawling, and later walking is one of the processes an individual goes through. The skills to move around helps one interact with the world. The human child and caterpillars both need food to help with growth, because it promotes good health to be strong. A child goes through the life stage as a baby, toddler, and a teenager. The last transition is when young youth becomes an adult. A caterpillar has a
