In Moneyball as the title of the film suggests, money is the problem. In Miracle the problem is that the Soviets have the best ice hockey team. They are undefeatable, and in Glory Road, race is the big obstacle. Moneyball tells the story that if a baseball team has lots of money they can buy any player they want. This means that the big teams have all the power in their hands. In this movie the Oakland A’s are a small budget baseball team. They are fighting against clubs that have millions of dollars. In the film they mention the difference in the amount of money the clubs have; $120 million vs. $39,000, which is a big gap. He has seen first-hand that sometimes the traditional way of finding players and building a team is not the right way to do it. Beane does not trust the system of recruiting and decides to change recruiting drastically. In Miracle the coach has a similar experience, he lost the Olympic games and now wants to show that he can lead an ice hockey team to victory. This is certainly a trauma because he will not be stopped by anyone or anything. For instance, he builds relations with the players but he is not afraid to let a player go if they do not perform well, because all he wants in the end is to win. For coach Haskins it is less clear what his childhood looked like, he just wants to put a winning team together and he does not care if someone is black or white, as long as they are the best players. All the movies are determined to make their strategy work. Moreover, all the coaches are prepared to risk their career to make it work. They put all their eggs in one basket to prove they can succeed with their ideal model of
