Is the world you see before you exclusively made up of materials or mentally constructed, perhaps maybe even a bit of both? This has been a question that has been debated by famous philosophers as well as your everyday normal citizen throughout history, especially in the twentieth century. This debate stems from Philosophy of the Mind; where Monist (Physicalism), Idealists (Idealism), and Duelist (Neutral Monism) beliefs battle each other out. Amongst his most famous works is the Republic that grants us a “perfectly rational political order.” (Lewis Bradley).
In regards to the Philosophy of the mind Plutonian thought takes the sides of dualist in which it ascertains that as the body is from the material world and the mind (soul) is from the world of ideas. Thus the soul was only in the body temporarily and would eventually separate upon it’s death (Brickhouse, Thomas and Smith, Nicholas). I am more inclined to have this Monistic point of view. Perhaps my very opinion is a bit bias but it is what I have come to believe. I am in love with the idea that the world and universe before us is one living organism which is the Dao. It is a living thinking being which all life are but copy or toroidal effect of the Dao… just think of it the Golden Spiral. At the very smallest is the smallest thing we know of today… quarks. Someday we’ll find what that is made of… but till then that is our start. As you put quarks together and multiples you get the next biggest thing until you get to an atom. Eventually that atom becomes chemicals and those chemicals come together to make cells… until finally it makes you. On the reverse side thing of the largest thing we know… the universe… this is all of the Dao. Going down the golden Spiral we have Galaxies than galactic clouds and materials to the stars and the planets revolving around them until we get… back to you.
