That the cocoon of my immediate tribe would stay just the way it was. I stressed and worried through all the steps of his path. Was he warm enough, did he get enough to eat, was he growing on schedule? Just as the author of the song follows the other person through the woods and sees a harsh landscape and predators, I worried about my son’s path through his adolescences. When my son was a toddler, I dropped him off at pre-school for the first time, my worry was papable, will he get enough food, will he make friends, will be he scared?
In its initial years, the Vietnam War had huge amounts of help originating from US citizens. We thought that the war would not take long at all and would make new American Casualties. Their thoughts started to change once they understood that the legislature had sugar coated how "well" the war was going when in actuality, it wasn't looking good. Major offensive attacks were launched by the Viet Cong on major bases. It was a decision of good or bad for the administration, their decision was constantly awful.

The United States did not agree with the spread of communism so they sided with South Vietnam. The U.S happened to get involved due to wanting to stop the war because they didn’t want it to spread. It impacted the world due to it being the first war to become televised and people were upset because people were dying.

During the period of the Vietnam War, division struck the United States due to people’s vast opinions, this caused a rift in the country and began protests. Citizens of the USA did have legitimate reasons to protest the Vietnam War, but not all agreed with that. American citizens had many different reasons to protest the Vietnam War, but the biggest reason was that people were realizing how horrific wars truly were.
As the Cold War raged on, the United States continued to try and contain the spread of communism. A popular belief during this time was the domino theory, which stated that if a country fell to communism, the surrounding countries would also fall. Therefore, the United States began sending aid to the South Vietnamese in order to resist the communist North. However, this quickly escalated into more and more troops being supplied, and the Vietnam War began to take shape. The Vietnam War would be marked by failure in both military and political leadership, angering the American public at every turn.

The Reds wanted to spread communism, this left Americans not too pleased because they were capitalist all the way.

The United States is one of the greatest superpowers at the time and were seen as the helping hand for doing the right thing. The United States were dragged into this war in order to stop the spread of communism throughout the Democratic South Korea. Many Americans saw this as the United States intervening in another country’s civil war which is not our duty. Americans also used the draft in a poor way affecting the young and African American population.

Some people turned the war into a racist battle ground to justify the uprising and protest against the war. The troops were poorly armed and on average fought 240 days a year when compared to WW2 with only 40 days a year for infantrymen.

Since 1992 and under the Migration Act, asylum seekers that arrive to Australia without a valid visa must be held in an immigration detention until they are granted a visa or removed from the (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2016). Although this law is effective, it is obvious that this is not the best option for the country, and is not working as planned. If an asylum seeker arrives to Australia without a visa, or ‘unauthorised’, they must be held in mandatory detention whilst their refugee claims are decided, (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2005) along with their health, identity and security check to be completed. These processes can be lengthy and difficult, meaning that the asylum seeker or refugee may be held in detention for much longer than needed.
