In the book that my group is reading is called Monster by Walter Dean Myers. It is about a 16-year-old Steve Harmon is writing in his diary of his trial for murder. Most people think that black people are never innocent. They think that because most black people always get in trouble, but they need to know that not all black people are mean. His lawyer doesn't believe that he's innocent. In the short story, Little thing are big the man is black and he wants to help a white lady and again he doesn't. “So many slanders are written every day in the newspapers against the blacks and Puerto Ricans. I hesitated for a long, long minute. The ancestral manners that the illiterate Puerto Rican passes on from father to son were struggling inside me.
