In our book, Fahrenheit 451, our main character, Montag, is a typical firemen in a dystopian society where books are to be disintegrated and information is shielded from their people to prevent opinions and thoughts. These fireman don’t save people from fires, they start them. Montag was just like all the other fireman, burning books, houses, and lives under the order of Beatty, until he meets Clarisse. Clarisse, who is just one of the many influential people who will come along in the book, made Montag think about more than just burning books. The censorship of visual learning makes people spend more time with the “family” causing the society lose social growth, stifle individual thoughts, and further the process of losing power. Faber, who is another key person that helps Montag discover his own thoughts hidden under the information from the power figures of their society. Faber’s thoughts also help Montag to further understand what is really going on under the umbrella of the ‘family’ which is what they call huge tvs that are a big part of their lives. Even the religious figures like, “Christ is one of the ‘family’ now. I often Wonder if God recognizes his own son the way we've dressed him up, or is it dressed him down? He's a regular peppermint stick now, all sugar-crystal and saccharine when he isn't making veiled references to certain commercial products that every worshipper absolutely needs." (Bradbury 77) This shows us that the family is so deeply intertwined with the people of Fahrenheit 451’s lives that even their own religious figure have a become a part of their entertainment lifestyle. Having the ‘family’ as such a big part creates people who only listen believe the people on tv so much so that faith starts to blend with TV. Professor Faber, Montag's brilliant scholar menor, is attempting to explain his thoughts on their future society based on their modern government. He knows that their civilians unsightly addiction to TV is not accidental, but a deliberate act of the government. This is the best way to get the people of Fahrenheit
