Cult films make up more and more of midnight screenings and are used to show stories that are often controversial in ways that will show the general public what is going on in their society. Sometimes, they were revolutionary films considered to be 'before their time' and not bound by the conventions of their time. Most often, they were obscure and cheesy cult films that were made by maverick, highly individualistic film-makers with low-budget resources and little commercial marketing. Cult films are rarely, if ever, sequels, since then they would have attained mainstream appeal and widespread success, therefore taking away from the definition of cult films. The movie opens with King Arthur “riding” into town, not really riding but having his servant beat coconuts together behind him so it sounds like a horse’s hooves. Even from the beginning of the movie the satire that made the movie what it is today is clearly visible. Arthur goes into town to find his Knights of the Round Table: “Sir Bedevere the Wise, Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Galahad the Pure, Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot, and the aptly named Sir Not-appearing-in-this-film”(Monty Python and the Holy Grail). The movie is based on the knight’s many adventures on their way to find the Holy Grail. On their way to finding the Grail they face a varying array of horror, including a persistent Black Knight, a three-headed giant, a group of shrubbery-challenged knights, a killer rabbit, a house of virgins, and a handful of rude Frenchmen. This movie was different from many cult films due to how this movie was a part of an ongoing series of sketches, movies, and comedies, under the same title of Monty Python. The cast consisted of 4 main actors, all of which are males, who play nearly all the roles (even female characters). The government has begun issuing out packets called Soylent; Soylent Red and Soylent Blue. Soylent Red is like the protein while Soylent Blue is more of hydrates. After, this the government comes out with Soylent Green, this is supposed to be eaten as vitamins. The main character, Detective Thorn (Charlton Heston), has been called on a case to investigate a murder, and finds a slab of meat in a freezer during the investigation. This had been the first time he had seen meat in over 10 years, so he contemplates stealing it. He makes friends with a girl that lives in the apartment that had the meat, a few weeks later she is murdered and he feels distraught. Due to this he went to church to confess his sins and how he had wanted to steal the meat. When he goes back to his apartment his roommate had left him a note saying that he is “going home”. Thorn is deeply disturbed about what has happened to his roommate so he follows Roth’s body. He sneaks his way into a factory, and sees the factory clean Roth’s body, unclothes, disinfects the body and then through it into a vat full of other bodies. He follows the pipelines and finds out that soylent green is made out of people and then while he is being carried away by the police on a stretcher to a local hospital, he urges to Hatcher to spread the word and shouts out to the spectators: "Soylent Green is
