Brief history of Moody Bible Church Moody Church is nondenominational church located in Downtown Chicago. The church was established by a famous evangelist Dwight L. Moody. He was a young adult of about 19 years old, who came to Chicago to run a business in the year 1856. His passion for children who does not has the opportunity to listen to the gospel, led him to establish a Sunday school, which later became the Moody Church in the year 1860. Their ages when they started the ministry, and how it all started. Bill Hybels was a 20 years old young adult, who was tasked by his then Pastor, Dave Holmbo, to lead a small youth group Bible study. The church was predictable, as the kids would have already known, when they got to the church, where segregation was a social norm. Economically, they didn’t belong, as they were invited from the darkest and poorest part of the city and suburbs. The race would be black or Hispanic, and other minority groups perhaps, and some of them must have predicted the hostility that awaits them. The sermons were irrelevant to their daily lives in the real world. The message that was been preached in the church has no relevance in the life of the children. “You know, If you could just make the Bible relevant to our friends. Talk about things that impact their lives. Then I think they would come and keep coming”. (Willow Creek) The message was not designed to suit everyone in the church, as it is in most churches. Bill Hybel found that out, and made change to accommodate both the new converts, and the regular members. Kids from the poor neighborhood were probably hungry, and need food, clothing, education, healthcare, shelter, etc. it easy to figure out why the Pastor’s messages could not get their
