The most important event in United States History in my opinion is the American Revolution. This huge war consisted of many events. One large event was the Boston Massacre. This was a small conflict between a few Boston men and the British soldiers that left 5 men dead, and a huge impact on the course of the war. Arguably the most important event in all of US history is the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This, among other events, made America a free country from the British crown. The second most important thing that ever has happened is the Civil War. The Civil War was a GIGANTIC tide turner for America. This war determined something that had been hanging over everyone’s head since the end of the Revolutionary war. That was if we we’re going to allow slaves or not. The terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001 took 2,996 lives and injured approximately 6,000 more people. Between the 4 planes that went down that day, there were 265 people that died just on those planes. This was a tragic day in United States history. The terrorists, later claimed by Osama bin Laden, hijacked 4 airplanes and later killed so many people that this massacre has a memorial on the site of the attacks. 1,113 victims are still unidentified. One of the most important things that has ever happened in the history of America is Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. I don’t think I need to say that it's important because he was shot, but more the fact that this tightened security. Abe was shot in the back of the head with a .44 caliber Derringer percussion cap pistol. He wasn't even making a speech or at a parade. He was enjoying a play in a theater. The play was “Our American Cousin”. The horrible man who assassinated the “Penny President” is John Wilkes
