Grunge Music

Grunge music was one of the most popular genres in the 1990’s, bringing a new style of rock with gritty distortion and new styles of hair and clothing. One band some may now that was a popular grunge band in the 90’s was Nirvana, which consisted of lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain, drummer Dave Grohl, and bassist Krist Novoselic. This band was mostly popular for their hit album “Nevermind”. One of their most popular songs on this album, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, has been described as a teen revolution anthem, meaning that this song gives teens power. Thus, this is one of the most popular Nirvana songs to date.

“The story goes that an electrician went to Kurt’s house to fix some wiring. He randomly found blood on the wall, after getting to work even though no one answered when he knocked. He found Kurts dead body, after tracing the blood.”

“However, rumors in music lead most people to believe Courtney Love, the singer’s wife, wrote the note he left by his side and shot him. After all, she was known to go crazy. She was a drug addict, and a major alcoholic.”

Courtney Love had her own band; Hole, which consisted of her, drummer Patty Schemel, bassist Melissa Auf der Maur, and Eric Erlandson. “This band were doing very well, until Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994. But, they bounced back with the album ‘Live Through This’, one of their most popular albums to date.
