Laurel Ulrich’s A Midwifes Tale is a book over Marth Ballard who was a New England women living in America. Ulrich uses Marth Ballard diary entries along with other historical documents from the eighteenth century to show her audience the life of women specifically a midwife in the American society, and the sexual standards that were present during the eighteenth century. Martha Ballard the wife of Ephraim Ballard was midwife during the eighteenth century in Hallowell, who not only played the role of a midwife in the society, but also the role of a wife and a mother. Ulrich starts to book by talking about scarlet fever epidemic that had taken places in Hallowell during the summer of 1787. During the time of the fever and after the epidemic had ended, Martha played the role of an important member in the community, even though the social structure in Hallowell was giving more importance to male doctors.

Historical Fiction Novel Analysis The novel The Midwife’s Apprentice by Karen Cushman is about a 13 year old girl called Brat who has not found her place in society until she meets Jane the Midwife. Brat undergoes several identity changes when she changes her name from Brat to Beetle then eventually to Alyce. This novel is set in a small village in England during the 14th century. Brat was accustomed to the lifestyle of sleeping in dung heaps and traveling on foot from village to village begging for her next meal.
The two novels, “The Pregnancy Project” written by Gaby Rodriguez and the novel “Turning 15 and On The Road to Freedom” both share the same meaning. Both authors of the novels write about taking action. In the short novel, “Turning 15 and On The Road to Freedom”, Lynda Blackmon Lowery helps to the march for the right to vote. Many people took action and sacrificed a lot to help others approve Selma’s voting rights. In the novel of “The Pregnancy Project” Gaby Rodriguez illustrates her Senior Year Project which showed how stereotypical people can be.
Introduction The American Revolution was a very long and extensive war that lasted from 1775 until 1783, and as a result America gained its independence. It is very imperative to highlight the significant role that women played during the American Revolution. During this era a woman was often portrayed as illiterate, child-bearing mother, and a homemaker.
Maternity In Love Medicine In the novel “Love Medicine” by Louise Erdrich the mothers seem to defy history and control their families and their lives, the mothers seem to have most influence on the people around them. The mothers in “Love Medicine” are strong tough women, who suffer through seemingly unbearable pain throughout their lives which seems to influence them for the rest of their lives. One of the strongest characters in the novel “Love Medicine” is Marie Lazarre/Kashpaw who comes from a family of thieves, but heads her family with a no nonsense attitude that she has carried with her since early life.
Edith as a ghost ghost mother is unique. It has all the human feelings such as love. Anger and violence can be a character in a horror movie is always displayed west. But tolerance and love of a mother is not a character ever created in the United States horror stories I 've ever seen. If there were, it would be very rare.

Once a baby is born and a woman enters motherhood, her maternal instincts come naturally, either right away or over time. The one major problem with that is because becoming a mother comes with some unrealistic expectations to be a perfect one as well. Mothers, especially new ones, are pressured so much in their lives, because they have a child to take responsibility for. All of these presumptions may add to the stress that a new mother is already dealing with from learning how to take care of her baby. Family members and even community members put these mothers to shame by telling them how to do something the “correct” way.
In 2010, the public appears to be more accepting of unwed mothers than in the 1950’s. Throughout the years, the educational system has seen a dropout rate in girls within the school system. One of the major reasons younger girl drop out of high school is because of pregnancy. Since the 1950’s there has been a steady incline of teen pregnancies. Sixteen percent of girls in the 1950’s became pregnant and has grown into thirty-four percent in the year 2000 (O’ Connell).
Intensive mothering creates inequality within the home for many women. In other words, women take on more unpaid work within the home which, creates more stress for women. Domestic labour is not regulated, it is unpaid and is often taken for granted even though it is so important for a household (Luxton & Corman, as cited in Mandell & Duffy, 2011, p.219). Muszynski argues what is unpaid work within the household and divides it into five different categories. Meal preparation and clean up, other domestic work which includes cleaning, repairs and maintenance, third is help and child care, fourth is management and shopping and lastly transportation and travel (Muszynski, cited in Bolaria 2000.p.106).
Teenage parenthood is theorized as a social problem that involves a greater than average risk of being poor, unemployed and isolated. Studies have confirmed the association between socioeconomic disadvantage and teenage pregnancy and between social inequality and high teen pregnancy rates. Postpartum depression is something some mother 's get after having a baby. Postpartum needs to be more talked about to mother 's. There are many mother 's who go diagnosed with postpartum because they don 't know what it is. Postpartum can happen right after birth, although some mother 's don 't notice until around three weeks after the baby. This is a very common disease through out mother 's. You can actually get post partum with second birth, even though you never had it after your first. With postpartum you can feel hopeless and worthless as a mother.
Teen pregnancy is a communal problem, a family problem, and a personal problem all rolled into one. It frequently goes hand in hand with premarital sex. Problems come when the news needs to breach each parent’s party. After which, these impressions simply serve no purpose but to put them off, and deduce to mere nuisance to them when the truth of their situation slowly sinks in. How do they provide for the child if their parents cut them short financially?
