"Outsiders" Compare and Contrast Essay The “ Outsiders” movie and novel are awkward and interesting. Upon watching both they appeared to be somewhat similar. However, after finishing the movie and having time to reflect they have distinct differences.
In the novel “The Outsiders” , by S.E Hinton, Darry made a choice that ultimately drove the plot. Ponyboy comes home late at night , and Darry caught and yelled furiously at him for being out late and as Soda tries to defend him he became angry and slapped Ponyboy. The moment when Ponyboy came home, Darry acts furious as the text states, “Where have you been? Do you know what time it is.’ He was madder than I’d seen him in a long time.
S.E. Hinton's "The Outsiders" is a coming-of-age book that takes place in the 1960s and tells the tale of Ponyboy Curtis, a young man from the wrong side of town. Ponyboy is a member of the Greasers, a group distinguished by their long, greasy hair and intimidating appearance. The wealthy youths from the other side of town, the Socs, are constantly at odds with the Greasers. When Ponyboy meets Cherry Valance, a Soc girl who is kind to him and understands him, his entire world is turned upside down. Through their companionship, Ponyboy learns that the Greasers and Socs are not as disparate as society would have him believe.
This novel by S.E Hinton, The Outsiders shows a crucial point that everybody is special in some way and should be known as who they are individuality not as a group. The Outsiders is a book that describes 2 gangs , the luxurious Socs, and the hoodlum Greasers. While they have conflicts with each other, the protaganist, Ponyboy, finds his identity outside of the gang. The important message of the story is that everyone has a unique personality that are developed by being in a group of people away from home, this identity can shape anyone’s way of life and the path they may take in the future. First of all, Socs and greasers have a trademark that showed who was part of their gang, Socs are know for Mustangs, Madras, and leather jackets;
The colors white, yellow, blue, and green shape the novel’s characters and plot, resulting in a vivid story of love and blind pursuance. As mentioned earlier, the color green is one of the most recognized colors symbolically. The color green symbolizes future, or the American dream, and is most associated with Gatsby himself. This is what Gatsby is pursuing throughout the novel until he tragically perishes, his dream never becoming a reality.
The color of white symbolizes corruption as in the example of Gatsby showing the policeman a white card to not get in trouble. The color of yellow symbolizing wealth as represented with Gatsby’s luxurious car which shows how wealthy he is. And, the color green symbolizes the future as it symbolizes the future and dream because of Gatsby’s wanted dream/future he wanted with Daisy as the green light is at her house. So in conclusion, the symbolism of color in the book is a major part of the novel and there are many other colors in the novel that have symbolism like gray, silver or gold, but these colors stood out the most in The Great

Hilton, we go to a time where gangs remain dominant and run the streets. S.E. Hinton tells us about two enemy gangs. The Socs, one of the many provocative gang groups, kids who live lavish lives and get away with the crimes they commit because they look clean cut and look like good innocent kids on the outside.
Love - an intense feeling of deep affection. Love is an emotion shown in many romantic or family relationships as well as friendships. Love is shown frequently throughout the entirety of the book The Outsiders. For example, Dally is an extremely aggressive and audacious person, but he also shows immense love towards Johnny. Sodapop is a fun-loving, carefree high-school dropout, but he is understanding and shows love to both of his brothers by seeing both sides of an argument.

In the book of the Outsiders, the violence of Johnny’s family, the other greasers, and their opposing gangs, the Socials, strongly affected Johnny. The Violence of Johnny’s family impacts Johny’s natural instincts, which means that some of his characteristics were already fixed since he was born, and influenced him in daily life. Johnny grew up in a family without care, love, and understanding.
Gatsby’s life is filled with various colors which signify the messages Fitzgerald is trying to convey. Color symbolism plays an important role through the novel, The Great Gatsby. In the novel, the color green detonates Gatsby’s hopes and dreams, but in other characters it represents envy, jealously, and money. When Nick returns home from his cousins house, he spotted Gatsby outside on his dock: “—he stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way…I glanced seaward—and distinguished nothing but a green light, that might have been at the end of a dock” (Fitzgerald 21).
One of the most significant and well known symbols throughout this novel is the green light. This green light is an allusion to Gatsby’s “American Dream” or Daisy. “I decided to call to him. But I didn 't call to him, for he gave a sudden intimation that he was content to be alone—he stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way, and, far as I was from him, I could have sworn he was trembling.
Daniel Defoe born as Daniel Foe, was a famous writer, pamphleteer, journalist and English teacher. He was born on 13th September 1660 and died on 24th April 1731. Defoe is best known for his novel Robinson Crusoe. He was an allrounder and wrote many journals, books and pamphlets. The topic of his works was not limited and included psychology, religion, marriage, crime, politics and even the supernatural.
Fitzgerald uses color to add mod and symbolize different things throughout the novel. The novel uses many different colors to provide imagery for the readers to understand and to live as if they are truly in the novel. The color blue represents Gatsby’s illusions his deeply romantic dreams of unreality. He’ had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it.”
